Well, first let me apologize for the inconvenience.  This is the Wichita Falls MCC newsletter and this past week, due to a technical oops in our email service Constant Contact, all our contacts were erased!  So, I reloaded all the contacts I could find that are or have been connected to our church.

If I added you and you do not want to be on this list, please accept my apology…then scroll down to the bottom of this email and click “unsubscribe”.  You will be taken off the list immediately.  If you’ve been added and welcome this resources, welcome to the list!  And for those who had no idea anything happened at all…you are a witness to the miracles of technology even when we have accidents!

Blessings all,
-Pastor Mel

Small Group SUNDAY OFF!

Enough: Discovering Joy through Simplicity and Generosity – Small Group Study
We will take a short break in our Enough series so that class participants may enjoy our Volunteer Appreciation luncheon.  We will have our final class on November 16th.
Thanksgiving Basket Collection!
Thanksgiving It’s time for our Thanksgiving Basket drive! This year, our goal is 10 baskets – filled to the brim and bursting with goodness for a family in need. Basket content slips will be passed out during church to ensure that we have balanced basket contents (rather than 100 cans of green beans!).
You may also sponsor an entire basket by making a donation toward the drive.  A basket to feed a family of five costs approximately $45, including disposable cookware and storage for leftovers. Send your donation to the church at 1401 Travis St., or Click Here to make that donation online. (Note: because of paypal credit card fees, consider adding $2 to the total gift to offset online processing.)
Want to help with grocery purchases, basket assembly, and/or basket delivery?  Sign up to help at church via our sign-up sheet.  OR email Pastor Mel here!

Deadline for donations is
November 23rd!

Enough…Your Stewardship Campaign

Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity

Our church-wide emphasis Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity is nering its conclusion.  Last week, we talked about “Cultivating Contentment.”  In our small group and our corporate worship, we addressed head-on our human tendency to accumulate possessions and wealth, and we discovered how to consciously change our ways.

This Sunday brings our final topic in the series: “Defined by Generosity.”  What defines your life?  Is it wealth?  Belongings?  Faith?  Many of us live with a scarcity mentality, worried that we must gather and hard as much as possible, saving for some imagined “rainy day.”  Or we focus on self-gratification.  But the Bible promises both God’s blessings and joy for those who choose to live another way.  During the service we will take action to change our lives by setting five specific personal goals to work toward over the next year.  Then, on the following two Sundays, we will celebrate our gifts to the ministry of our church for the coming year.

I urge you to join us this Sunday as we learn how to live in a new way – as people who are defined by generosity and who experience true joy.

Leo Tolstoy, from “Family Happiness”

“A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to have it done to them; then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one’s neighbor – such is my idea of happiness.”

LAST SUNDAY to Bring Your Donations…

We begin our fundraiser to benefit both our church and Goodwill THIS Sunday!  All donations are accepted.

(AND, let’s be sure to offer goods that Goodwill will be able to sell in local Goodwill stores.)

How this fundraiser works:  Goodwill provides the bins and flyers. We collect donations.  They pick them up at the end of the fundraiser.  The church benefits in the amount of $0.10 per pound.  Goodwill benefits through the sales in local stores.  Easy as Pie!

Think Goodwill is just about the stores???  Nope!  Goodwill also provides…

  • Workforce Development Center
  • Adult Day Service
  • Career Development Center
  • Youth Services
  • Document Destruction
  • Industrial Janitorial Services
  • Goodwill Housing

Goodwill is also offering $15,000 in scholarships (of $1,000 each) to high school seniors so they may achieve their dream of furthering their education.
