UFMCC Statement of Faith

MCC Commission on the Statement of Faith

A Reflection on MCC Mission and Liturgy
by Rev. Elder Héctor Gutiérrez & Rev. Dr. Candace R. Shultis

In MCC, we are living a unique time of reflection, analysis, approach, transition and deep action, guided by the Spirit of God who continues calling us to “Be MCC” in the world.

We came to be part of this family that is MCC from different and varied traditions, stories and histories, but no doubt with the strong conviction that the same mission holds us together: proclaiming the radically inclusive message of the Gospel.

Jesus, as he was leaving His disciples, gave them and us what we call the Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19a)

When we were founded, Rev. Elder Troy D. Perry declared that we preach a three-pronged gospel: Christian Salvation, Christian Community, and Christian Social Action. Our current MCC Statement of Faith states, in part:

“Founded in the interest of offering a church home to all who confess and believe…
The Church serves to bring all people to God through Christ.
To this end, it shall arrange for regular services of worship,
prayer, interpretation of Scriptures, and edification through
the teaching and preaching of the Word.”

Consider a Trip to Canada for MCC General Conference 2016!!!

Brylee General ConferenceWhy not experience it for yourself???

MCC’s General Conference happens every three years and it’s coming up in the Summer of 2016. There is a payment plan for registration, and Pastor Mel can help you figure out things like passports and travel. We could even go as a church – together – by taking a train, or caravan, or flying together…and sharing hotel rooms! With an effort as a group, we can fundraise to help with costs for attendees. (Pastor Mel will be serving as the Accessibility Coordinator for the conference, so her costs are covered by UFMCC…saving WFMCC about $5,000!)

Commit to going now, and we can commit as a church to do all we can in fundraising to make it possible for everyone who wants to go to be involved! Click here for more information! >>

Make sure to let Pastor Mel know if you decide to register! Let’s DO this!

The Life of the Church

Special Announcement
Due to personal needs, Pam F has resigned her service on the Board of Trustees. Please keep Pam in your prayers.
In order to continue the work and oversight of the board, our Board of Trustees has appointed (by unanimous vote) Linda Hoagland to the board. Linda will also take on the board role of Clerk. Please welcome her to this important leadership role. Linda’s service will extend only to our next annual Congregational Meeting. You can reach Linda and the Board by calling the church office at 940-322-4100 or email at Board@WichitaFallsMCC.org.
Leadership Changes
As part of their individual discernment and spiritual growth, please note that Deacon Cookie Cicello and Deacon Barbara Mann have chosen to take a period of time away from leadership. In this period of rest, the remainder of the Deacon Council will be primary contacts for congregant care needs. More information about this transition will be sent in next week’s email newsletter and at church. The call to service as a Deacon is an important one, and it is specifically tied to the work of the pastor. Please keep your deacons and deacon candidates in your prayers! To reach a deacon for assistance, you may call the church office at 940-322-4100, or email them at deacons@wichitafallsmcc.org.
Also, after 27 years of faithful service, we offer a loving farewell to Karen Booth from the position of Director of Music. She is sure to be blessed by God as a “good and faithful servant” and her work has immeasurably blessed our congregation. As we move into a new era of our church’s music ministry, please keep the music ministry and all who volunteer their time and talents to the music of our worship in prayer!
Lastly, after a long tenure serving as Lay Delegate of WFMCC to the denomination, Deon Winchester has resigned from her service.  A new Lay Delegate will be elected at our annual Congregational Meeting to begin service as our conduit between WFMCC and our fellowship, UFMCC, and will represent our congregation at the 2016 General Conference.
Music Ministry
WFMCC Voices in Praise Choir – Choir will meet on Wednesday, April 8th, at 7:30pm in the WFMCC Sanctuary to discuss plans for WFMCC Voices in Praise through the rest of the year. If you are interested in joining the choir or offering support to the choir, please join us at that meeting!
WFMCC Worship Music Leadership – Music is an important part of our worship experience. As such, several music worship leaders are needed. If you are interested in leading in worship in the area of music, we have the following needs: 1) Technical Music Lead (needs knowledge of using an iPad – provided), 2) Rhythm guitarist, 3) Hymn Leaders, 4) Praise Leaders. Worship singers must be able to adequately lead the melody of selected hymns. If you are interested in any of these leadership opportunities, join music rehearsals at 5:30pm on Wednesdays! Show up and we will do our best to find you a place to lead!

These are guiding principles that help us all know what is to be expected, what we can expect, and how we can build lasting relationships with one another.
